Romans8:32 "Hewho did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—howwill he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?"

Matthew6:33 "Butseek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these thingswill be given to you as well."

Weminimize God’s blessings for many reasons

(don’twant to seem proud)

(don’twant to manipulate God like the prosperity preachers)

(Weare not immune from troubles)

Thisis the lesson from ISAAC

MOSTinformation = Joseph

LEASTinformation = Isaac

Butthere is a KEY LESSON from Isaac. BLESSING

Questionsfor us:

WillGod Bless me?

CanI ask for these blessings?

HowDo these blessings come?

TWOchapters primarily about Isaac (Gen 25, 26)

TheKEY word

  1. Will God Bless me?

    1. God’s Blessing to Isaac

      1. Events of Genesis 25-26 (key word = BLESSING)

      2. Gen 25:21 ANSWERED PRAYER for a child. “Isaac prayed to the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was barren. The Lord answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant.

      1. Gen 26:3 The LORD speaks to Isaac…. “I WILL BLESS YOU” “Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham.

      1. Gen 26:5. KEY to this ENTIRE SECTION. “I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because Abraham obeyed me and kept my requirements, my commands, my decrees and my laws.”

      1. Gen 26:12-15 100x increase! “Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the Lord blessed him.

      2. Gen 26:24. Promise of blessing repeated. “That night the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bless you and will increase the number of your descendants for the sake of my servant Abraham.”

      1. Gen 26:28. Abimelech testifies that God has blessed Isaac. “They answered, “We saw clearly that the Lord was with you; so we said, ‘There ought to be a sworn agreement between us’—between us and you. Let us make a treaty with you

      1. Gen 27:29. Isaac blesses Jacob. “May nations serve you and peoples bow down to you. Be lord over your brothers, and may the sons of your mother bow down to you. May those who curse you be cursed and those who bless you be blessed.”

    1. God Desires to bless me!

      1. Acts 3:26 "When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”"

      2. Ephesians 1:3 "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ."

      3. 2 Peter 1:3 "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness."

      4. Isaiah 41:10 "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

  1. Can I ask for these blessing?

    1. Biblical Examples

      1. Jacob asked for a blessing. Genesis 32:26 "Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.” But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

      1. Psalmist. Psalm 119:173 "May your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts."

      1. Proverbs 30:8 "Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread."

      1. Jabez. 1 Chronicles 4:9–10 "Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.” " "Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request."

    1. Guidelines for asking

      1. Asking is an act of worship. Jabez “cried out to the God of Israel”

      2. Our confidence is in God.

      3. We accept His will.

    1. If you are asking with the WRONG MOTIVES, it is sin.

      1. GREED is a wrong motive. Average American earns in the top 1% of the WORLD!

      2. Slothfulness. “Lord, bless me so that I won’t have to work” God COMMANDS you to work!

      3. Pleasure.

      4. Pride. Lord, bless me so that others will be impressed with me.

    1. Jabez asked for God’s glory and was blessed!

  1. How do these blessings come?

    1. For ISAAC

      1. Abraham blessed because of his FAITH

      1. Isaac was blessed because of ABRAHAM. Gen 26:4-5 “I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because Abraham obeyed me and kept my requirements, my commands, my decrees and my laws.”

      2. Isaac represents YOU and ME.

    1. For ME

      1. Like Isaac, our blessings come through SOMEONE ELSE – – JESUS!

        1. 1 Corinthians 1:30 "It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption."

        2. INHERITANCE in Christ. 1 Peter 3:9 “Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

      1. For ISAAC – someone else obeyed, and Isaac was blessed

      1. For ME- someone else obeyed, and I are blessed!

    1. Blessings for LIFE.

      1. Psalm 37:25 "I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread."

      2. Philippians 4:19 "And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus."

      4. Illus Transmission on 1977 buick electra
