TIMES of NATIONAL TRAGEDY
– Dunkirk
– Civil War (Fredericksburg, Vicksburg, Bull Run)
– Duane and Janet Willis – Baptist Pastor from Chicago. Fire on I 94 kills 5 children instantly. 6th dies next day in ICU.
44:9. Israel was rejected.
TRIALS –
– Sometimes because of our SIN. Lam 3:40-45
– Sometimes for reasons unknown. Lam 3:31-33. God does not delight in suffering.
44:1-3 God Delivered Us
44:4-8 Trust in God -Only He can Deliver us
44:9-12 Objection – God has rejected us
44:13-16 Confusion – God’s people are disgraced
44:17-19 Objection – We had not forgotten God
44:20-22 Trust in God – He Knows we Trust Him
44:23-25 God, Deliver Us Again
What Good are Trials?
1. Trials keep us HUMBLE. 2 Cor 12:7
2. Trials keep us DEPENDENT on God. Psa 119:67, 71. Jeremiah 9:23-24 “This is what the Lord says. . .”
3. Trials help us GROW. James 1:2-4
4. Trials help us PRAY.
5. Trials allow us to GIVE GOD GLORY.
