The journey was joyful. Memorable. Spiritual.
Psalm 121.
I. Where Do We Find HELP for Life’s Journeys?
A. Princes? NO.

1. Psalm 118:9 “It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes.”

2. Psalm 146:3 “Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot
save.”
B. Horses? NO

1. Psalm 20:7 “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our

God.”

2. Isaiah 31:1 “Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on
horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the LORD.”
C. Wealth? NO

1. Proverbs 11:28 “Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.”

2. Jeremiah 48:7 Since you trust in your deeds and riches, you too will be taken captive, and Chemosh will go into exile, together with his priests and officials.

3. Jeremiah 9:23-24 3 This is what the LORD says: “Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the

strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, 24 but let him who boasts

boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness,

justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the LORD.

D. Others? NO Proverbs 29:25 “Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is

kept safe.”

E. Self? NO Proverbs 28:26 “He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe.”

F. Our help comes from the Lord.
1. The hills. Perhaps physical struggle. Perhaps robbers. Most likely, the

mountains reminding of God’s faithfulness.

2. My help comes from the LORD , maker of heaven and earth.
II. Where do we find PROTECTION for life’s journey’s? V. 3-8
A. St Christopher on your dashboard. NO PROTECTION B. It is GOD who protects
1. Feet slipping. Every walker, climber knows about feet slipping.
2. He watches over you.

a. With concern. He will not slumber. A watchman who never gets tired. Have you ever fallen asleep reading a book? Watching TV? Talking to your wife?.

b. With Comfort. V. 5b – 6. Shade

c. With endurance. V. 8 “both now and everymore.
Are you going on a journey? God watches over you.

Psalm 91:11 (NIV)11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;

Psalm 34:6-7 (NIV)6 This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of the

LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.
