The Reign of the Righteous King

Applies COMPLETELY to Jesus, and His Reign as Messiah

SOLOMON – Unequaled time in Israel’s history
THE world superpower. Military expansion
40 years of PEACE and PROSPERITY Magnificent Temple. Stood for 400 years.
HOWEVER . . . It did not take long for the KINGDOM to unravel.
Solomon’s son REHOBOAM lacked the wisdom of his father (1 Kings 12:12-15)
Continual warfare for the next 400 years
280 years (722 BC) Northern kingdom captured by the Assyrians.
120 years after that, JUDAH taken captive by the Babylonians.
There is NO KING ON EARTH that can fulfill the requests of Psalm 72.
ONLY JESUS, ruling in HIS KINGDOM can completely fulfill these promises. We see the world in turmoil. IT WILL GET WORSE, but it WILL NOT END until Jesus Returns.
Ahmaninjad: “Follow God or Vanish” , Ahmadinejad tells West

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has warned Western leaders to follow the path of God or "vanish from the face of the earth".
"These oppressive countries are angry with us … a nation that on the other side of the globe has risen up and proved the shallowness of their power," Ahmadinejad said in a speech in the northern town of Ramsar, the semi-official news agency Mehr reported Wednesday.
"They are angry with our nation. But we tell them 'so be it and die from this anger'. Rest assured that if you do not respond to the divine call, you will die soon and vanish from the
face of the earth," he said.
The outspoken president also maintained Iran's defiance over its controversial nuclear programme, saying it was on course to fully master nuclear technology.
"Thank to God's help, we have gone all the way and are only one step away from the zenith.
"We hope to have the big nuclear celebration by the end of the year (March 2007)," Ahmadinejad said, echoing comments he has made on numerous occasions in recent months.

I. Jehovah’s Kingdom is a RIGHTEOUS Kingdom. Psalm 72:1-4
A. Isaiah 9:7 “Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this."
B. Isaiah 11:4 “but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked."
C. Isaiah 16:5 “In love a throne will be established; in faithfulness a man will sit on it— one from the house of David— one who in judging seeks justice and speeds the cause of righteousness."
D. Jeremiah 23:5 “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will raise up
to David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land."
E. Jeremiah 33:15 ‘In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch
sprout from David’s line; he will do what is just and right in the land."
F. FOUR ASPECTS of GOD’s KINGDOM
1. Universal Kingdom. God as ruler of the whole earth. a. 1 Chron 29:11
b. (Psalm 145:13, NIV) "Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made."

2. Davidic/ Messianic Kingdom
a. 2 Sam 7:12-16 Davidic Covenant
b. Isa 11:1-9. Messianic prophesy
c. (Luke 1:32, NIV) "He will be great and will be called the Son of
the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father

3. Mystery from of the Kingdom
a. Mat 13:11 The “mystery” of the Kingdom of heaven. Something previously not revealed in the OT.
b. This aspect of the Kingdom takes place between the two advents of Christ.
c. The participants are all those who receive him as King
4. Spiritual Kingdom. a. Col 1:13
b. All believers
G. In the KINGDOM – Jesus will rule in righteousness. NOW, Jesus rules in our hearts.
II. Jehovah’s Kingdom is an ETERNAL Kingdom. Psalm 72:5-7
A. Solomon did not fulfill this
B. A Reference to God’s ETERNAL RULE over the earth. The Millennial
Kingdom and BEYOND
C. Rev. 20:4-6. We will rule with Christ for 1,000 years
D. BEYOND THAT, God’s Reign will CONTINUE throughout eternity
1. Daniel 4:3 “How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an eternal kingdom; his dominion endures from generation to generation."
2. Daniel 7:27 “Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be handed over to the saints, the people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers
will worship and obey him.’"
3. 2 Peter 1:11 “and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."
III. Jehovah’s Kingdom is a UNIVERSAL Kingdom. Psalm 72:8-11
IV. Jehovah’s Kingdom is COMPASSIONATE. Psalm 72:12-14
